이모(코어)Emo(Core)는 Emotional의 약어로 포스트 하드코어의 또 다른 형태입니다.
매쓰 록과 비슷한 분위기이지만 개인의 내면에 초점을 맞추고 끓어오르는 분노와 울분의 감정을 격하게 표현하는 음악입니다. 그 중에서도 스크리모Screamo는 이모에 온 힘을 다해 소리를 지르는 특징을 더한 음악입니다.
이모는 몇 차례에 걸쳐 진화하였으며 2000년대 이후에는 팝 펑크Pop Punk와 연계하여 대중성과 독특한 외적 비주얼을 강조한 메인스트림 이모가 되었습니다.
오늘은 80, 90년대를 중심으로 진정성이 있던 시절, 이모 밴드들의 감성이 극에 달한 세계로 들어 가겠습니다.
