안녕하세요?
2000년 이후의 메탈 음악과 관련되어서는 크게 두가지 특징이 있다고 생각합니다.
1)첫번째는 이전까지 펼쳐진 체계안에서 하위 장르들 간의 소극적인 Fusion융합을 통한 제 3의 새로운 하위 메탈 장르들의 등장입니다. (물론 기존 메탈의 각 하위 장르들도 개별적인 진화를 활발히 도모하고 있습니다만.)
2)두번째는 멜로디의 적극적 도입과 여성 보컬의 일반화가 메탈을 좀 더 쉽고 대중 친화적으로 만들어 당대의 신세대에게 어필했다는 점입니다. (마치 Sex Pistols를 대체한 Green Day와 Nirvana를 대체한 Foo Fighters를 보는 느낌이라고 할까요?)
오늘은 Black Sabbath, Juda Priest, Metallica, Death, Dream Theater, Tool 등 70, 80, 90년대의 메탈에 익숙한 청자의 입장에서 2000년 이후 메탈의 차이점을 살펴보겠습니다.
